Pregnant Kerry Katona admitted to hospital over fears she has 'dangerous illness'

Kerry Katona is recovering in hospital after a pregnancy scare, it has been revealed.

The former I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here winner was admitted on Tuesday after a midwife became concerned that she had contracted the potentially fatal condition of pre-enclampsia.

But medics discovered that the 27-year-old was suffering from water retention. Katona is due to give birth to her her fourth child in May.

She left rehab just two days ago after being treated for bipolar disorder. The former Atomic Kitten singer has denied allegations that she has continued to use drugs during her pregnancy, but she was pictured smoking.

Katona's spokesman Max Clifford said the star had been troubled by swollen feet and legs.

He added: "She's been in a lot of pain, particularly in the last few days.

"It could be water retention. She's still in hospital at the moment.

"She has been in increasing pain and can hardly walk. Kerry has had a pretty rough time and it's got worse and worse. We're hoping that everything will settle down."

Filming of Katona's MTV reality series Crazy In Love was suspended when the mother-of-three went back to rehab.

It has been alleged that her husband Mark Croft, 37, slept with a barmaid he met in a nightclub in July.

Mr Clifford, who gave Katona away when she married, insisted she was being treated for her ongoing bipolar disorder.

Mr Clifford said that Mr Croft had taken her to hospital and has been by her side.
