Kelly Brook squeezes into her boyfriend Danny Cipiani's Land Rover

Rugby star Danny Cipriani clearly had other things on his mind when he picked girlfriend Kelly Brook up from work last night.

The 21-year-old parked so close to the wall outside the Comedy Theatre, the 29-year-old model could barely opened the door of his Land Rover.

The Wasps player was dropped from the England team yesterday after his role in successive defeats by Australia and South Africa.

After being dealt his blow, a glum-faced Cipriani drove to London's West End to pick up Brook after she completed her performance in the play Fat Pig.

His dodgy parking in the skinny backstreets of Piccadilly meant Brook was worried she would scratch his door.

Despite a group of fans waiting with autograph books for Brook to sign, grumpy Cipriani told Brook to 'get in' quickly so he could drive away swiftly.

Following Cipriani's relegation to the bench, he denied criticism his new celebrity lifestyle as one half of a famous couple was affecting his game.

He said: 'There is no celebrity lifestyle.

He also hit out at criticism of him partying with Brook at the capital's Madison nightclub on Sunday night.

He said: 'It is an easy stick to beat me with. It was my girlfriend's birthday. You still have to enjoy yourself.

'Every one of the guys will have been out one way or another. I didn't drink.

'Just because I was photographed doesn't make me a celebrity. I am just very lucky to have a gorgeous girlfriend.'

Brook and Cipriani started dating in September, just weeks after the former Big Breakfast presenter ended her on/off four year relationship with ex-fiancé Billy Zane.

Brook made her West End debut in Fat Pig last month, playing office 'bitch' Jeannie.

She received a standing ovation from the crowd on her first night, but critics weren't so impressed.

The Mail's Quentin Letts wrote: 'She is not a great interpreter of a role. The voice reaches a tinny cruising altitude and has difficulty finding another note.

'When hoping to convey impatience she does that schoolgirl thing of crossing her eyes and staring high to the side boxes.

'You could, if you were loyal, argue that the character she plays - an office bimbo - is a total blank. In which case Miss Brook has secured a triumph. But it might simply be that she is a poor actress.'

She took over Gavin & Stacey star Joanna Page's role to play Jeannie in the Neil LaBute production at London's Capital Theatre.
