Party girls Chanelle and Chantelle hit the town with Big Brother's Rex

Gawdy highlights, fake tans and lashings of make-up were on display as Big Brother's Chanelle Hayes and Chantelle Houghton hit the town for a night out.

Wearing matching monochrome dresses it was a bit of a toss up as to which friend had managed to squeeze into the shortest skirt.

The notorious party girls were primped and preened for the launch of nightspot Sauce in London's Cavendish Square.

After becoming firm friends in recent months the pair are often spotted out on the party scene wearing only the briefest of outfits.

The glamour girls have plenty in common including their reality TV history, almost identical names and of course their love of the party lifestyle.

Big Brother veterans Chanelle Hayes and Chantelle Houghton joined forces to show this year's evictees Dale Howard and Stuart Pilkington a good time last night.

The party girls took the former housemates to their favourite celebrity haunt, Chinawhite.

Chanelle has previously admitted to having a crush on Dale, much to the ire of his girlfriend Jennifer Clark, who was noticeably absent from the outing.

The Posh Spice look alike has become a source of tension for the couple, with Jen asking Dale in a magazine interview: 'How do you feel about that Chanelle fancying you, after what you said to me last night – that she had a rather large forehead?'

He replied at the time: 'I can’t believe you’re trying to start a war! Just because she doesn’t like you, that’s no reason to be mean to her.'

Despite her best efforts to win him over, Dale and Chanelle left separately last night, with the brunette exiting the club alone at 2am.

But Chantelle apparently had more success, piling into a cab with bachelor Stuart and another female friend just after 2.30am.

Their will they, won't they romance kept viewers guessing for years.

And as Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny reunited on the red carpet at the London premiere of The X Files: I Want To Believe, the two actors looked very close.

But there were some slight differences between the famous pairing - namely Gillian's bulging baby bump.

The pregnant actress, 39, is due to give birth to her third child later this year with partner businessman Mark Griffiths.

She was joined by a grizzled looking Duchovny, 48 next week, as the pair reunited for the big screen version of the hugely successful television series.

The pair will reprise their roles as FBI Special Agents Fox Mulder (Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Anderson) in the second movie spin-off from the cult hit TV series.

The paranormal X-Files movie continues after nine globally successful TV series, three Golden Globes, an Emmy and the first film - The X-Files in 1998, which made $187 million.

Duchovny, wearing a beige-coloured outfit, signed autographs and Anderson, wearing a flowing dress, waved at the crowd.

The pair spoke briefly outside the cinema in London's Leicester Square before going inside.

Created and executive produced by Chris Carter, the X-Files, which began in 1993, chronicles the lives and adventures of Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, two dissimilar FBI agents assigned to investigate unsolved cases within the Bureau - cases which often involve the paranormal, the supernatural and the inexplicable.

The film also stars Billy Connolly, Amanda Peet and Xzibit.

It promises to take the complicated relationship between Mulder (Duchovny) and Scully (Anderson) in "unexpected directions".

The film is being released in the UK and Ireland on Friday.

Among the stars on the red carpet were Death Proof actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Tudors actress Natalie Dormer and McFly stars Harry Judd and Tom Fletcher.

Big Brother contestant Chanelle Hayes launched her pop career today with a scantily clad performance in the unlikely setting of a Dublin shopping centre.

The Posh Spice lookalike took to the floor in a orange corset, hot pants and fishnet tights to perform her new single, appropriately titled I Want It.

The 20-year-old, whose new MTV reality show Chanelle: Wannabe Popstar follows her from getting a record contract to releasing the single, has also filmed a racy film clip for the track.

She describes the sound as "it's a bit like Britney's new songs."

Of the video, she adds: "It's sexy for the boys, and the attitude, for the girls, is more feministic [sic]."

Dovetailing perhaps a bit too neatly with the launch today came the release on the internet of footage of the Yorkshire-born wannabe cavorting in her underwear on an alleged sex tape.

She couldn't be seen interacting with any other people in the video clip, and in fact at no stage removes any of her clothes, causing cynics to suggest that any extra publicity generated by such a 'scandal' would not be wholly unwelcome.

The first website to feature the clip said the tape had been sent in anonymously.

Meanwhile, Chanelle took the opportunity to take yet another swipe at her Big Brother nemesis Charley Uchea, saying she missed her shot at fame because she didn't find the right agent.

She told the Daily Star: "Love her or hate her, people tuned in to see Charley, but she never made the most of that afterwards."

"You need to find the right agent for you. You have to get on with them and, most importantly, trust that they are going to do what's right for you."

But the lime-light loving star picked the wrong moment to make a grand entrance last night when she managed to stop traffic and hold up the Prime Minister on his way to the Children's Champion Awards.

Gordon Brown and his wife, Sarah were forced to wait in their limousine as the reality tv star took her time getting out of her own car, ignoring the requests of Brown's security team and police to move on.

A source said police were banging on her car window and telling her to hurry up but were left furious when she continued taking her time to get ready for her red carpet walk.

The Posh wannabe made sure she finished her make up before slowly getting out of the car in preparation for the waiting paparazzi.

The awards, held at the Renaissance Chancery Hotel, were attended by celebrities including Spice Girl Emma Bunton and actress Amanda Holden.

The PM finally made it inside the A-list party some minutes later while Chanelle's night didn't have the happiest of endings.

Hayes' former boyfriend Ziggy Lichman left the celebrity bash with EastEnders star Kara Tointon.

"Last year, I vowed to find one and after what happened with Ziggy, I've started wondering if that's ever actually going to happen!

"My life has changed so much. I started 2007 as a student, and ended it as a celebrity.

"It's been so much fun – and now I can class shopping as work!"
