Nancy Shevell show public affection at the baseball

Compared to his previous marriages with Linda Eastman and Heather Mills, Sir Paul Cartney's courtship with girlfriend Nancy Shevell has been relatively low-key.

The normally-private couple put on a rare show of public affection as they joined TV producer friend Lorne Michaels and actor Jack Nicholson at the baseball in New York City last night.

McCartney and Shevell were kissing and cuddling in the front row as they watched her home team New York Yankees defeats the Texas Rangers 9-2 at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

The foursome were seated in the coveted 'Legends Seating' area right behind the home plate, where tickets sell from anything between $525 to $2,625 a person.

Towards the end of the game, Shevell, 47, slipped off early, leaving her boyfriend of nearly two years with his male companions.

The 67-year-old politely stood up with his American lover and friends as they listened to patriotic song God Bless America during the seventh inning.

In between innings, the quartet drank beers, munched on hot dogs and swapped notes on the players.

McCartney was introduced to the popular American game several years before he met divorcee Shevell in October 2007, after his high-profile split from Mills.

Saturday Night Live producer Michaels - who was seated next to McCartney last night - brought the Beatles legend to his first baseball game.

In a recent interview with the Boston Herald, McCartney said: 'Lorne Michaels took me to my first game years ago. It was a Yankees game, so I became a Yankees fan.'

Noting baseball similarity to rounders, McCartney insisted he would be staying firmly off the pitch after an unfortunate incident with a bat as a child.

He said: 'Baseball to us (Brits) is a game called rounders we played as kids.

'Actually, I accidentally broke a girl’s nose when I was a kid with my back swing. I still remember her name. Shirley Prytherch. P-r-y-t-h-e-r, um, c-h, I think. I don’t know, but it sounds Welsh to me.

'It’s something like this that accounts for all the armour you guys wear now playing baseball. She didn’t have any and look what happened to her.'

Meanwhile, McCartney admitted frequent rumours about his death had become an 'occupational hazard' for his life as a famous rocker.

Home run! McCartney and Shevell react after the Yankees score a home run

The singer recalled a conspiracy theory in October 1969 in which a Michigan DJ claimed his bandmates John Lennon, Ringo Starr and George Harrison had recruited a lookalike McCartney to stand in for him after he 'died' in 1966.

The DJ believed the shot of McCartney on the front cover of the group's 1969 Abbey Road album wasn't the singer and the bare feet was a code to mean a corpse.

McCartney tells Mojo magazine: 'It was funny, really. But ridiculous. It's an occupational hazard: people make up a story and then you find yourself having to deal with this fictitious stuff.

'I think the worst thing that happened was that I could see people sort of looking at me more closely: "Were his ears always like that?" It was madness.'

Macca's girlfriend turns veggie - will she now become the new Lady McCartney

Paul McCartney’s girlfriend Nancy Shevell has given friends the firmest indication yet that she could become the third Lady McCartney.

The 47-year-old New York heiress, who has a penchant for crocodile handbags and steak, has turned vegetarian to impress the ex-Beatle.

Could Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell be taking their relationship to the next step? Nancy has given up steak for the vegetarian singer

The striking brunette has even changed her political views for her liberal lover. ‘Nancy has toned down her super-Republican views and given up her beloved steaks, which shocked us. When they travelled around America this summer, they lived on avocado sandwiches and tomato soup. Now Nancy orders veggie food all the time,’ says a friend.

Will Nancy really prove her commitment to animal-loving Macca and ditch her crocodile-skin Birkin bag?

Sir Paul McCartney's girlfriend gets close to finalising divorce

The rumour mill is on overdrive today following American reports Sir Paul McCartney is gearing up to propose to girlfriend Nancy Shevell.

The heiress is close to finalising her divorce from estranged husband Bruce Blakeman, and there are whispers the Beatles star is planning to ask her to marry him after that.

Getting serious: Sir Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell on a romantic night out in the Hamptons earlier this month

Chicago Sun-Times newspaper columnist Bill Zwecker reports: 'It looks like the romance between Paul McCartney and wealthy New York socialite Nancy Shevell may be on the verge of moving up a notch. A source very close to the Beatles legend tells me Shevell may finally have worked out details of her divorce.

'When that happens, Sir Paul is expected to announce his engagement to his lady love - who would become his third wife.'

It follows reports that McCartney, 66, has been househunting in the same Manhattan neighbourhood as 47-year-old Shevell.

All you need is love: The pair have been dating since November

The pair have grown increasingly close since they began dating last November.

They enjoyed a romantic trip to Antigua in April and a road trip across seven US states last month.

And last week they were pictured having an intimate Japanese meal in the Hamptons on New York's Long Island.

Shevell, whose family has a multi-million dollar transport firm, is still to officially finalise her divorce from her politician husband of 23 years, Bruce Blakeman.

He is now reportedly in the running to become the next New York mayor.

Meanwhile, McCartney's former wife Heather Mills has reportedly been dropped from Donald Trump's reality TV show Celebrity Apprentice after she made 'ludicrous' contract demands.

Network NBC had her lined up to appear on the show but rejected Mills after she allegedly insisted on a clause in her contract to guarantee her a place in the final.

A representative for McCartney did not return calls.

The singer's modest Sunfish dinghy, named after his first wife Linda, has long been his treasure.

He has said: 'It's my antidote to chaos. I like the freedom, the peace.'

McCartney, 65, and Shevell, 47, have been seeing each other with increasingly regularity since last November.

The pair enjoyed a romantic trip to Antigua in April and a road trip across seven US states last month.

However reports that McCartney is planning soon to make Miss Shevell his third wife are believed to be wide of the mark.

His adult children Stella, Mary and James are said to be completely against the idea of their father marrying for a very long time after the hell he went through divorcing his last wife, Heather Mills.

And Miss Shevell, whose family has a £315million transport firm, is still to finalise her divorce from her politician husband of 23 years, Bruce Blakeman.

Sir Paul and new love Nancy get their pics on Route 66

After the ordeal he went through with Heather Mills, it is something of a surprise to find Paul McCartney down on one knee in front of another girl.

But while the word is that their relationship is flourishing, for now at least he was merely taking a holiday snap of Nancy Shevell.

The couple were taking a stroll in the popular tourist town of Sante Fe, New Mexico, stopping off there during a month-long road trip across seven U.S. states.

Sir Paul, 66, and his 47-year-old heiress girlfriend are fulfilling the star's lifelong dream to travel along the remains of the legendary Route 66 in an old Ford Bronco truck.

The couple joined the route in Illinois last Saturday and are following it all the way to Santa Monica pier in Los Angeles.
It is understood they have been camping out under the stars rather than heading for the nearest five star hotel.

Fellow campers said they seemed 'totally in love'.

One added: 'It was incredible to see one of the world's richest musicians going back to basics.

'They didn't seem to have a care in the world.'

While Sir Paul may not be about to propose marriage, insiders claim that if the holiday goes well the couple could move in together.
