Jade Goody in a 1950s bathing cap covers up the agony of her cancer treatment on holiday with boys

Only days ago, she said she was 'clinging to life by her fingernails'.

But it seems Jade Goody is determined not to allow her battle against cancer get the better of her.

The 27-year-old, who found fame after appearing on Big Brother, is holidaying in the Mediterranean as she takes time out from chemotherapy sessions.

But while she managed a smile in the sunshine, she was still not confident enough to show that she has lost her hair because of the therapy.

She used a swimming hat to cover up during a trip to the beach with her sons Bobby, five, and four-year-old Freddie.

And in place of the bikini she wore on the beach in Abu Dhabi just over a year ago in November 2007, this time she chose a more concealing one-piece swimsuit.

Brave face: Jade did her best to enjoy her holiday escape

Miss Goody clearly has more energy than when she first began treatment. Then, she spoke of it being so debilitating that she could not climb stairs.

Yesterday, however, she managed to frolic in the surf with her boys and take a short swim.

She was diagnosed with cervical cancer last summer. Doctors have since given her a 40 per cent chance of survival.

She has already had surgery to remove a large tumour, along with her womb and ovaries.

In a recent interview she said: 'I'm realistic. I know that I might not have that long left.

'I have been - and still am - very poorly.

'I've been hanging on to life with my fingernails. But I will not let go.'

She said about her hair: 'You'd think I would have prepared for it, wouldn't you?

'But somehow it just made everything feel so real.

'I get hot flushes, I wake in the middle of the night with the bed sheets soaked in sweat and I have mood swings.

'I feel like a 50-year-old woman trapped in a 27-year-old's body.'

Despite her health troubles, Miss Goody went ahead with plans made earlier last year to appear in pantomime over Christmas.

She postponed her radiotheraphy sessions to fulfill her commitment to play the Wicked Queen in the Lincoln production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, insisting she was doing the show to provide for her sons.

After falling ill over Christmas, Miss Goody was forced to pull out of the production after spending the New Year's period in hospital.

Jade Goody can't catch a break as her car is hit on a family day out

Jade Goody's run of bad luck shows no sign of abating.

The Celebrity Big Brother star's parked Bentley was hit by another vehicle while she was taking her sons to a hairdresser in Chigwell today.

The accident left scratches across the rear of the silver convertible, but Jade took the incident in her stride, calmly surveying the damage with a friend.

Of course it was nothing compared to her troubles this week - she is dealing with the news of her cancer diagnosis and boyfriend Jack Tweed's unexpected conviction.

Tweed was jailed for 18 months earlier for attacking a teenager with a golf club despite telling the judge through his barrister that he was needed to help nurse Jade through the life-threatening illness.

His imprisonment was came as a huge blow to Jade, who told a friend: 'This couldn't have come at a worse time. I'm in bits. I'm devastated. Jack is my rock.'

Miss Goody, 27, who recently moved to Upshire in Essex, learned she had a tumour in her cervix while appearing in the Indian version of Big Brother last month.

On Monday morning, she told GMTV that doctors initially gave her the all clear, and sent her away with just pain killers for period pain.

Miss Goody was rumoured to be making a reality TV show documenting her battle with the disease, but the star dismissed the claims.

She said: 'I'm not doing a TV show out of this. I was filming before and it all finished when I went to India.

'I would never do that, it's something that I need to go through on my own and get strong.'

Jade's ex Jack takes her to Harley Street doctors as she prepares for cancer battle

Jade Goody was comforted by her ex-boyfriend Jack Tweed today as they visited a consultant to discuss options for treatment for her cancer.

The visibly distressed reality TV star held Jack's hand as they visited several clinics in London's Harley Street.

After starting off the day at her local hospital Princess Alexandra in Essex, Jade and Jack ventured into central London to visit some of the country's top cancer experts.

The pair went to see a cancer specialist as soon as Jade, 26, arrived back in Britain from the Indian Big Brother house, her spokesman Mark Thomas confirmed.

Jack put his arm around Jade as they walked to the front door of her gated detached home in Upshire, Essex. And a distressed Jade put her hands up to her face and ignored questions about her health from waiting reporters.

Thomas said: 'She's seeing a specialist. There's no more to say at the moment. She is talking to her consultant'.

She returned back home from the meeting with her consultant crying and visibly distressed.

Jade was driving her silver Bentley car with Tweed in the passenger seat.

A neighbour, who refused to be named, said: 'I saw her go out at about 7am this morning with Jack - who hasn't been living there for quite a while now.
Jade Goody

'I asked how she was, but Jade just gave a courteous smile. Jack said "she is OK, thanks" and that they were going to the hospital.'

The pair have remained friends despite their two-and-a-half year relationship ending over Jack's alleged cheating.

Jade has two children with former partner TV presenter Jeff Brazier.

A source said: 'She looked extremely upset and was crying. She didn't say anything and seemed a bit dazed.'

He added: 'I can't imagine what she is going through. To have cancer is one thing but to find out in such a public arena must be unbearable.'

Today on GMTV Shilpa Shetty paid tribute to 'the new Jade' and said she genuinely recognised the change in the Big Brother housemate who had previously racially abused her in the Celebrity version of the reality show.

She told GMTV: 'I was genuinely able to see the change in her, and I'm not just saying that because of the news that she cancer.

'It was really great to see how much calmer she was.

'I responded to her the way she responded to me, and it was only warm.'

Shilpa added: 'I wish her well, and hopes she gets better soon. It's so sad for someone so young to be diagnosed with such a dreadful illness.'

On Monday Jack said at the house, immediately after getting back from London Heathrow Airport:

'To be honest, she is fine. She is obviously upset. But all she wants to do now is go to sleep.

It's completely devastating but we don't want to talk now. Jade is all over the place.'

Jade told Reveal magazine last week that she knew she might be diagnosed with cancer before she went to India to take part in their Big Brother equivalent show.

She picked up a reported £100,000 to participate in the Indian programme called Bigg Boss, presented by Shilpa Shetty, who Jade was accused of racially abusing in last year's British Celebrity Big Brother show.

Jade has two children, Bobby, five, and Freddie, three, who are currently being looked after by family and friends.

Shilpa, 33, said: 'I was really sad when I heard Jade has cancer.

'My prayers and wishes are with Jade and her family as they face one of the biggest tests of their lives in times ahead.'

An 'upset and frightened' Jade was seen arriving back in the UK last night after her brief appearance on the Indian version of Big Brother when she was given her test results.

The mother of two flew into London's Heathrow Airport after a seven-hour flight from Mumbai, India last night.

Looking tired and drained the visibly upset Goody told airport personnel escorting her through the terminal: "I don't want any more, I can't do this."

She broke down in tears as she was met by a number of photographers and left the airport through a private exit.

The 27-year-old, who made her name on Big Brother in the UK, was a contestant on Bigg Boss 2 when she was called to the Diary Room to speak to her UK doctor.

He told her the results of a recent biopsy taken after a series of recent mystery collapses. Goody has reportedly given her consent for the footage to be broadcast to viewers on the show.

She broke down in tears and sobbed to housemates as she revealed she'd received some 'bad news' and that she had to leave the house.

Scenes showing her telling her housemates the news and leaving the house were aired in India last night.

Jade Goody

The 26-year-old was told the bad news by a specialist from the UK who was patched through to the Diary Room to speak to her

On hearing the news she was immediately withdrawn from the programme and returned home to Britain for treatment.

A close friend told The Sun last night: 'She was called into the Diary Room and spoke to her agent and then her consultant in the UK.

'She just burst into tears, ran out and said to housemates ‘I have cancer’.

'Jade was then led out of the house and she is coming back to England to see another consultant. She is completely devastated.'

Her spokesman Mark Thomas said: 'It is pretty obvious that she was looking forward to her time in the house but her health is the first priority and she is flying back for treatment and more tests.'

It is not known which form of cancer she has. It is not clear whether she has womb or cervical cancer but the latter is far more common in women under 35.

Jade bids goodbye to housemates after it was revealed that she has cancer

Jade had entered the Bigg Boss house after undergoing tests at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Essex following her third cancer scare and following four mystery collapses earlier this month.

Despite awaiting her test results, the reality star proceeded with her trip to India because she needed the money to support her two sons.

In an interview with Reveal magazine, which took place just two days before she flew to India, Jade admitted her fears.

She said: 'I know going to India sounds crazy, and a lot of people will criticise me for it, but I have to pay my bills. And if I do face cancer, I need to make sure I can support the boys.

'It's really hard not knowing what is happening. I'm trying to block it out and not to get too depressed.'

Having taken tests earlier this month she decided to go ahead and take part in the show to try to make amends for the race row with Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty.
Jade Goody

Jade agreed to appear on the Indian show in a bid to repair her reputation following accusations she racially abused Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty

In the celebrity version of the UK show, she racially abused Shilpa, calling her 'Shilpa Poppadom'. Shetty has since expressed her sadness at the news.

'It is unbelievable how life is so unpredictable and finds a way to distract and derail you from your plans.

My prayers are with Jade (and) her family in this hour, when they face one of the biggest tests of their lives, in times ahead.'

Miss Goody's spokesman said: 'She is devastated. It is a terrible thing to be told you have cancer.

'She broke down while she was on air and told some of the other housemates she had some bad news and had to go home.

'When I spoke to her she was very upset, frightened and I tried to reassure her as best I could.

'It looks like her cancer is at an early stage but we will have to wait until she gets back to Britain and sees a specialist and has more tests.'

Celebrity publicist Max Clifford told GMTV: 'The most important thing is to get her back with people who care for her.'

It is her third such cancer scare, following tests for bowel cancer in 2006 and ovarian cancer in 2004.

On those occasions she was given the all clear.

Jade and Shilpa hug as they meet for the first time since C4 race scandal

Jade Goody and Shilpa Shetty shared an emotional hug as they were reunited for the first time since last year's Celebrity Big Brother race scandal.

Goody - who was accused of bullying Shetty during the reality show - met the Bollywood star as she prepared to enter the Indian version of Big Brother, which in an ironic twist is being hosted by Shetty.

Earlier the 33-year-old told of her shock at Goody's decision to participate in the Big Boss.

She said she hoped the 27-year-old's bid to try and make amends would help her lose her 'misconceptions about India.

'When I found out Jade was going to be on Big Brother India I was as shocked as I was when I first met her,' she said.'

'Why would she go through this again? But then part of me was really happy because this is our opportunity to show her true Indian hospitality and how warm and welcoming we are.

Big hopes: Jade is appearing as a guest in the Indian version of Big Brother - which Shilpa is hosting - in a bid to repair her reputation

She's going in as someone who has had misconceptions about our country.

'I hope Jade learns first hand through this experience about our culture and how beautiful it is and how wonderful our people are.

'I hope this is an educating and enlightening experience that enriches her idea of what India is.'

The treatment of Shilpa, by Jade, and fellow housemates Jo O' Meara and Danielle Lloyd sparked more than 40,000 complaints to media regulator Ofcom.

Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell waded into the row, which even overshadowed Chancellor Gordon Brown's visit to India.

People in India were burning effigies of Jade in the street after she was caught on camera badmouthing 'Shilpa Poppadom'.

Her perfume was taken off the shelves and publishers scrapped plans for a paperback version of her autobiography.

Channel 4, which came under fire for not intervening in the furore, launched a review into the series.

Mother-of-two Jade, who went into the house this weekend after being promised a reported £100,000, is said to be nervous about appearing but determined to clear her name of allegations of racism.

Shetty went on to win the 2007 show and said she hoped Goody could follow in her footsteps by presenting a positive image of her country.

'I went into the UK Big Brother house to represent India and when I came out everyone's perceptions of Indians had changed slightly for the better,' she added.

Jade Goody and Danielle Lloyd join the posh crowd for a day at the polo

New look: Jade looked classy in monochrome for the polo tournament

The reality tv star attended the Duke of Essex Tournament yesterday dressed in classic monochrome and a headpiece reminiscent of those worn previously by Kate Middleton and Chelsy Davy.

Looking tanned and happy, the 27-year-old joined C-list pal Danielle Lloyd at the event at Gaynes Park in Epping, Surrey.

Like her friend, the sometimes WAG had opted for a more classic look than she usually prefers, wearing a strapless ivory dress.

What's put the wind up Jade?

After a break in Dubai it looks like Jade Goody has forgotten how to use an umbrella as she struggled to protect herself from the winter weather.

Despite an oversized cream-coloured umberella the mother-of-two, who was on a night out with friends, could not keep out the January weather.

The reality tv star got lashed with rain and her dress was blown up by the gales but she managed to keep smiling despite the chilly temperature.

Thankfully, she was wearing more clothes than on the Dubai beach where she was seen sporting a skimpy black bikini most days.

Wrapped up in a black dress and thick black tights the star looked tanned and relaxed after her break in the Middle Eastern holiday destination with boyfriend Jack Tweedy.

Looking more toned and slimmer than she has on previous holidays, Jade's hard work to get back in shape is obviously paying off.

The mother-of-two recently signed up for a fortnight in a weightloss boot camp costing £950 a week in a new bid to lose weight.

In an interview with Now! magazine, Jade said: "My boys joked: 'Mummy's off to Fat Camp'. I was so scared about tiny portions and army-style workouts that I stopped for a Burger King on the way!"

At the boot camp Jade was given nutrition lessons, woken up at 5.30am for PE-type games led by army-style instructors.

She said: "We climbed mountains, went on 14-mile walks, boxed, played rugby and football and did squats, lunges and sit-ups.

"On my third day, when we tried abseiling, I burst into tears and said I couldn't carry on, but everyone cheered me on and I ended up loving it.

"After seven days I'd lost a stone. My stomach, thighs and face looked thinner. After 14 days at the camp, I'd lost another stone.

"Now I jog every morning and haven't touched a takeaway or a fizzy drink."

Bikini-clad Jade Goody chases away the winter blues with a sunshine break

Jade Goody appears to have put her terrible year behind her to enjoy a winter break with boyfriend Jack Tweed.

The reality television star strutted along the beach in Dubai wearing a black bikini which left little to the imagination.

Just as well, as she appeared to be back on the road to her former slimline self, with the ex-Big Brother housemate appearing to have shed some of the pounds she had piled on in previous months.

Together again: Jade and Jack were reconciled on the trip to Dubai where they attended the launch of nightclub The Embassy

Jade and Jack were in The United Arab Emirates for the launch of a nightclub in the seven star Emirates Palace Hotel last month.

And since returning from her break Jade appears to be taking back control of her body after she revealed her addiction to slimming pills in an ongoing battle to control her weight last year.

The troubled star, who was cruelly dubbed 'Miss Piggy' after her 2002 appearance on the reality show, says she was hooked on tablets containing amphetamine.

However, this time the mother-of-two signed up for a fortnight in a weightloss boot camp costing £950 a week in a new bid to lose weight.
